Bucks Co. District Attorney’s Office Letter of Support

We received a wonderful letter of support for the Courthouse Companionship program earlier this year that we are proud to share with you now.

To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing this letter in strong support of the Roxy Therapy Dogs Program. For many years, Roxy Service Dogs have partnered with the Victim/Witness Unit at the District Attorney's Office and Nova Bucks, in Bucks County, to provide comfort, support and a positive distraction for the most vulnerable population in our society — our children.

Child victims have often had their entire world turned upside down by abuse and neglect. They are suddenly thrown into situations that are strange and frightening. Unfortunately, it often becomes necessary for those who have already been so traumatized to be part of the criminal justice process. They may be required to meet with law enforcement and District Attorney personnel as well as testify in a courtroom setting. These types of scenarios create a great deal of stress and anxiety.

It has been our experience that Roxy therapy dogs help make children feel safe and more relaxed in all types of situations. It provides relief from feelings of anxiety and fear by giving them the sense that they don't have to face things alone.

I can't say enough about this extraordinary organization and their dedicated NOVA-trained volunteers. They have always been accessible and professional partners, providing an invaluable service for everyone involved, but most importantly, the children. We look forward to working with them for many years to come.
