Skip’s Candy Corner, located in Peddler’s Village, presented recently a donation of $432 to Roxy Reading Therapy Dogs (RRTD) as part of its year-long fundraiser in support of the non-profit organization which provides certified therapy dog teams to area school-, court-, and hospital-based programs that impact children and youth.
A favorite of vintage and fine candy lovers, Skip’s Candy Corner donated 10 percent of sales of its hand-dipped dog bones for 2015, and has announced it will continue the same fundraiser through 2016.
“We are proud to announce that we will once again pledge 10 percent of the proceeds from the sale of our hand-dipped dog treats to support Roxy Reading Therapy Dogs,” says Patty Pietrak. “Our dog bones are decorated in a variety of styles and are sold throughout the year. We’re hopeful we can increase our dog bone sales this year and increase our donation to Roxy Reading.”
Currently, Skip’s Candy Corner is featuring white-coated dog bones decorated with hearts for Valentine’s gift giving to your favorite pooch. “Not only is it the perfect sweet treat for your faithful companion, but you’ll be donating to an organization that provides a valuable service to the community,” adds Pietrak.
Newly named RRTD President Sharon Fleck received the donation along with her therapy dog Bud, a 10-year-old Greyhound. Fleck and her dog have been a volunteer team for RRTD for eight years. Also present to receive the donation were RRTD Chairperson of the Board Linda McCrillis and her therapy dog Maggie.
“We are extremely grateful to the wonderful people at Skip’s Candy Corner, not only for their incredibly generous donation, but for their continued support of our organization and the services we provide,” said Fleck.
